Bookkeeper

Salary: £25 - £30k depending on experience (pro-rata)

Working hours: 8 hours per week to be agreed (to be worked between 8am - 5pm, Monday to Friday)

About the role

Our client, KG Electricals, is growing! They are looking for a fantastic, part-time bookkeeper to join their team, supporting their financial operation.

Purpose of job is to manage the day-to-day aspects of the company's financial operations, from the sales and purchase ledgers to the daily cash postings and bank reconciliations. You'll be responsible for completing our necessary returns and preparing information for our accountant.

This is a great opportunity for a bookkeeper or accounts assistant looking to work around other commitments.

Main Duties:
To be responsible for managing the internal finance function within the company

Take the initiative to continually review with your manager, work processes and controls, to find better and more efficient ways of working

QuickBooks Management

  • Manage all aspects of QuickBooks, including creating invoices, uploading transactions and reconciling accounts
  • Generate reports as required
  • Resolve any discrepancies in a timely manner
  • Manage payment schedules
  • Reconcile VAT-related transactions Budget/ Expenses management
  • Efficient collection and recording of receipts from companies, engineers and managers

Payments and Statements

  • Prepare weekly/ monthly payments and statements for review and approval
  • Ensure all payments are processed accurately and on time Payroll Processing
  • Administer payroll for PAYE employees and subcontractors
  • Ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll and associated documentation

Compliance

  • Prepare and submit accurate HMRC submissions including VAT and Construction Industry Scheme (CIS) returns
  • Manage other statutory submissions including P32, P45, P60
  • Ensure compliance with all statutory requirements and deadlines Year-End Preparations
  • Ensure all necessary documentation and reconciliations are completed in preparation for year-end reporting
  • Prepare financial documents and reports for the accountant

About you

Essential

1. Knowledge of bookkeeping procedures

2. Familiarity with finance regulations such as VAT and CIS

3. A proficient user of QuickBooks

4. Experience of payroll processing (ideally both sub-contractors and employees)

5. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, etc.) and financial software

6. Excellent organisation and time management skills

7. Proven skills in problem solving

8. Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously

9. Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting

10. Highly developed communication skills for liaising with a wide range of stakeholders

Desirable

1.Experience in the electrical or construction industry

2. Experience in a similar role at another company

3. Relevant accounts qualifications
