SEND Teaching Assistant

  • Hourly Rate: £13.21ph
  • Location: Burnley
  • Job Type: Full-time, Contract (Starting September 2024 until the end of the Autumn term initially)
  • Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30 am – 15.30 pm

We are looking for a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to support SEND children within EYFS and Year 2. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about making a difference in children's lives and has experience working with special educational needs.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Provide SEND support to children within EYFS/Year 2, ensuring they are engaged and making progress.
  • Assist with the preparation of learning materials tailored to the children's needs and interests.
  • Facilitate social interactions and help the children develop positive relationships with peers.
  • Work closely with the class teacher to monitor the children's progress and adapt support strategies as needed.
  • Maintain a safe and supportive learning environment at all times.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Experience working as a Teaching Assistant, preferably with children who have special educational needs.
  • Understanding of Autism and how it can affect learning and social interactions.
  • Patience, empathy, and a positive approach to supporting children with additional needs.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively liaise with teachers, parents, and other professionals.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team to provide the best support for the child.
  • Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
