Our client is an outstanding educational establishment who are looking for an experienced Management Accountant to join their finance team on a full time permanent basis.

This role would suit someone who has experience in a similar position and ideally someone who is AAT qualified, or working towards a professional accountancy qualification.

**Management Accountant - About The Role

Reporting to the Finance Manager you will assist with the provision of an effective financial reporting and control function.

You will take a leading role in financial planning, budgeting, monitoring and reporting, preparing monthly management accounts, financial forecasts and the annual budget. You will also be required to undertake month and year end tasks, analyse financial information and will work closely with budget holders to ensure financial targets are met.

Key responsibilities:

  • Preparation of budgets, cash-flow reports and re-forecasts
  • Preparation of monthly management accounts including variance reports
  • Control of balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Calculation of accruals and prepayments for monthly and year-end accounts and posting month end journals.
  • Assist with the year-end accounting process.
  • Prepare the monthly and year-end payroll (include pensions) in conjunction with the external payroll bureau
  • Maintain the Fixed Asset Register and calculate depreciation in line with accounting policy.
  • Reconciliation and posting of control accounts including petty cash, credit card and catering
  • To help ensure the integrity of the nominal ledger and that purchase orders and invoices have been correctly coded.
  • Check of all utilities and services invoicing and the provision of consumption data.

The successful Management Accountant will have/be:

  • AAT qualified (or studying towards accounting qualification)
  • Experience of management and financial accounting
  • Knowledge of accounting standards
  • Strong IT skills, particularly Excel skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Organised with excellent time management skills
