An exciting opportunity has arisen for a skilled Management Accountant/Retail Accountant to join a dynamic finance team within a well-established organisation. This full-time hybrid role offers the flexibility to work both from home and from one of our offices in the Midlands Wolverhampton, Dudley or Birmingham, with occasional travel required to other sites.

About the Role:

As a Management Accountant, you will play a key role in ensuring the financial health and sustainability of the organisation. You will be responsible for providing comprehensive financial oversight, supporting various departments in understanding the financial implications of their decisions. This role is ideal for someone with a strong background in retail accounting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monthly Management Accounts: Produce accurate and timely management accounts, including accruals, prepayments, and adjustments. Ensure income is correctly imported from various systems, and payroll and invoiced costs are accurately reported.
  • Balance Sheet Management: Maintain and regularly reconcile balance sheet accounts to ensure financial accuracy.
  • Financial Performance Reporting: Present monthly financial performance to senior management, providing clear explanations of variances against budgets and forecasts.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Conduct monthly review meetings with senior managers, acting as the key financial advisor to support budget holders with commercial decisions, capital investments, and business proposals.
  • Strategic Financial Support: Challenge and support operational managers in making well-informed business decisions by providing robust financial analysis and insights.

Key Skills and Experience:

  • Qualifications: Relevant financial qualification ACA, ACCA, CIMA with ongoing professional development.
  • Experience: Proven experience as a Management Accountant, ideally within a retail accounting environment
  • Budget Management: Experience in developing and monitoring annual budgets across multiple cost centre's.
  • Communication: Excellent communication skills, with the ability to influence and build strong relationships with senior management and key stakeholders.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in using an ERP system, Retail Software, Excel - strong working knowledge
