Our client, a leading Construction team in Cardiff are looking to ass a Non-Contentious Construction Associate or Senior Associate to their team.

The firm provide pragmatic and commercially-focused service for clients across the construction industry and supply chain.

As an Associate / Senior Associate, you will have the opportunity to work on challenging, high-profile transactional projects within both the Private and Public Sector. You should be very familiar with JCT and NEC contracts from a purely construction and property development perspective. Experience in PPP or PFI transactions would be particularly valued, and exposure to FIDIC or ICHEME forms would be great.

I am looking for someone with high calibre construction experience acquired at a leading national, regional, or City law firm. In-house legal experience at major contractors, consultants, or public bodies will also be highly valued. You should be confident, personable, and possess strong technical competence and intellectual ability.

As part of their large national construction team, this role can be based in Cardiff with hybrid working, typically with 3 days flexible office attendance, according to business needs.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide pragmatic and commercially-focused legal advice on non-contentious matters within the construction industry and supply chain.
  • Handle challenging, high-profile work on the transactional side, with a focus on JCT and NEC contracts from a construction and property development perspective.
  • Utilise expertise in PPP and PFI transactions, and exposure to FIDIC or ICHEME forms.
  • Collaborate with a large construction team across multiple offices.
  • Support hybrid working, with flexible office attendance according to business need.
  • Demonstrate leadership potential, strong technical competence, and excellent communication skills.
  • Network actively and contribute to the development of the team.

Skills / Experience Required:

  • 4-7 PQE.
  • High calibre construction experience acquired at a leading national, regional, or City law firm.
  • In-house legal experience at major contractors, consultants, or public bodies is highly valued.
  • Confident, personable, and commercially aware.
  • Strong familiarity with JCT and NEC contracts.
  • Additional procurement experience such as PFI / PPP is a plus.
  • Exceptional self-motivation and the ability to work well in a team.
