This is an exciting opportunity for a commercially focused Finance Director with entrepreneurial flair to help further grow this flourishing business with high ambitions and a great reputation.

As Finance Director you will provide the Board with sound financial advice that supports the delivery of the business's current goal and strategy

You will provide leadership, direction and mentoring to the finance team to ensure that they carry out their responsibilities to the required standard and ensure that all the Group's financial practices comply with statutory regulations and legislation.

The role of Finance Director

Budgeting, managing accounts and reporting

  • Pro-actively monitor performance, cash and working capital escalating concerns in a timely manner
  • Oversee the preparation of financial and management information, (including FD's report, monthly and quarterly management accounts, weekly flash report and key financial performance indicators) to ensure they are robustly prepared and delivered on a timely basis
  • Oversee the maintenance of an integrated model for the financial performance of the business, providing updates quarterly
  • Work closely with the other board members to create the annual budget for each financial year (comprising key assumptions, income statement, balance sheet, funds flow and cash flow) for approval by the Board before the start of the financial year
  • Produce quarterly re-forecasts of the income statement, balance sheet and cash flow. Commenting on performance vs any bank covenants
  • Provide ad hoc reports and analysis to support decision making

Working capital and cash management

  • Control cash management having regard to cash in hand, repayment of loans and bank covenant(s)
  • Work closely with purchasing and operation function to get visibility and help control working capital and cash flow

Stakeholders

  • Regular communications with banks, credit insurers and external auditors providing information to them as appropriate

Compliance

  • Carry out all necessary actions to ensure that the company meets its financial and legal obligations
  • Develop, maintain and monitor all necessary systems, policies and procedures to ensure effective and efficient financial management within the company
  • Ensure that the company complies with its accounting policies and any financial procedures and regulations, including relevant accounting standards

Miscellaneous

  • Oversee the usual accounting departmental tasks e.g. including: payroll, credit control, overdue debtors, VAT, taxation, and audit
  • Monitor external contracts and services provided by suppliers to ensure that these are operating effectively and provide the best value to the company
  • Monitor the effectiveness of the company's system of internal control
