Barnsley Council have an exciting opportunity for a Planning Enforcement Officerto join the team based in Barnsley. You will be working on a full-time, permanent basisand in return, you will receive a competitive salary of £29,269 - £43,421 per annum career graded.

As a Planning Enforcement Officer you will be primarily responsible for maintaining the integrity of the planning system by investigating, progressing and resolving breaches of planning control in line with statutory frameworks and local and national planning policy and guidance. The role provides a significant opportunity to become involved in a broad range of development areas including domestic, commercial development and matters concerning listed buildings and conservation.

To succeed as a Planning Enforcement Officer, you must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and an ability to negotiate effectively to resolve conflicting interests under pressure and balance competing priorities to achieve successful outcomes. You should also be able to prepare reports, analyze complex information, manage your workload effectively to meet performance targets and have competent ICT skills.
