Principal Procurement Category Manager - Construction

As a Principal Category Manager, you'll take ownership for the provision of our Healthcare Planning, Construction Consultancy and Ancillary Services Framework within the Construction & Estates category. You'll enjoy a challenge, developing specific strategic sourcing programmes/strategies across our client base and will be responsible for several projects within key markets.

This position is predominantly home based, with onsite meetings being held once per month at our Salford office and national travel to supplier and client sites when required.

What you'll be doing:

  • Work with other government agencies and public sector bodies to provide support on construction consultancy related tenders across areas such as healthcare, education, blue light and defence.
  • Work closely with internal teams to make sure cohesive strategies in the delivery of portfolio framework agreements.
  • Analyses data and identify key areas for cost savings and process improvements to advise procurement plans.
  • Lead multiple programmes and develops collaborative relationship management regimes with suppliers, ensuring maximum return on investment on commercial spend across the whole of the public sector.
  • Lead a small team allowing staff to deliver, improve expertise and build procurement capability.

What you'll bring:

  • Supplier relationship management with collaborator management experience.
  • Experience of UK Public Contracts Regulations & New Procurement Act 2023.
  • Experience of project management within a procurement setting and the ability to analyse data.
  • Advanced user of strategic sourcing tools (Ariba/Jaggaer/Bravo/Atamis/Coupa/SAP Ariba).
  • Team leadership/ management experience.
  • CIPS Level 4 or above or working towards qualification.

It would be great if you had:

  • Background within construction with an understanding of construction contracts (JCT Design & Build 2016, NEC 4 and FAC-1).
  • Experience working with the NHS and knowledge of NHS Terms and Conditions.
