Job Summary

The Legionella Risk Assessor will be responsible for conducting thorough risk assessments for Legionella bacteria in various water systems. This role demands a strong understanding of Legionella control measures, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to provide clear and actionable recommendations to clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct Legionella risk assessments for a variety of water systems, including cooling towers, hot and cold water systems, and other industrial water systems.
  • Identify potential sources of Legionella contamination and evaluate the risk they pose.
  • Develop and implement Legionella control and management plans.
  • Perform regular monitoring and sampling of water systems to detect Legionella bacteria.
  • Provide clients with detailed reports outlining findings, risk levels, and recommended corrective actions.
  • Assist clients in implementing risk reduction measures and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and guidelines.
  • Keep up-to-date with industry standards, best practices, and regulatory requirements related to Legionella control.
  • Provide training and support to clients and staff on Legionella awareness and control measures.
  • Generate comprehensive documents in Microsoft Word as part of the assessment process
  • Create schematic drawings in Visio to accurately represent assessment findings
  • Work partially from home and partially on-site to fulfill job requirements
  • Ensure strict adherence to industry regulations and guidelines in all assessments

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Microbiology, Chemistry, or a related field.
  • At least 3 years of experience in conducting Legionella risk assessments.
  • In-depth knowledge of Legionella bacteria, its sources, and control measures.
  • Familiarity with relevant regulations and standards, such as ACOP L8, HSG274, and BS 8580-1.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and report-writing skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects.
  • Professional certification or training in Legionella risk assessment is highly desirable.
