We are looking for a qualified and compassionate Special Needs Teacher to join our team immediately, with the opportunity for a permanent role at the end of the academic year.
Roles and Responsibilities:
As a Class Teacher, your core responsibilities will include:
- Planning and delivering lessons that align with curriculum standards, while adapting them to meet the diverse learning styles of students.
- Assessing and tracking student progress, setting individualized learning goals, and ensuring that all students are engaged and making progress.
- Creating a positive classroom environment that fosters respect, inclusion, and student well-being.
- Collaborating with teaching assistants and other support staff to ensure a cohesive educational experience.
- Engaging with parents and guardians, keeping them informed of their child's progress, achievements, and any areas needing support.
As a Special Needs Teacher, you will have additional specialised responsibilities, including:
- Developing and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) for each student, in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team.
- Using adaptive teaching methods and specialized resources to engage and support students with varying needs, including physical, cognitive, emotional, and behavioral challenges.
- Supporting students with personal care needs where required, working sensitively and respectfully to promote independence.
- Collaborating closely with external specialists, including speech and language therapists, occupational therapists, and educational psychologists, to ensure holistic support for each student.
- Training and guiding teaching assistants in specific SEN strategies to enhance classroom support.
- Implementing behavioral management techniques tailored to the needs of individual students, fostering a safe and supportive learning space.
- Monitoring progress and adjusting strategies as needed to ensure students are developing their academic, social, and life skills effectively.
Ideal Candidate:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent with special needs experience.
- Proven experience working within special education, ideally in a classroom setting.
- Strong knowledge of SEN strategies, behavioral management, and adaptive teaching techniques.
- Excellent communication skills to work collaboratively with parents, specialists, and staff.
- A compassionate, patient, and adaptable approach, with a commitment to fostering each student's development.
