Company Details and Job Overview:
Based in the Fleetwood area, this company has been operating for over 150 years and are British and family-owned. The company now sells to over 70 countries and has received multiple awards from the Queen. They are currently recruiting for an experienced Accounts Assistant on a permanent and full-time basis (35 hours per week).
Your New Role as the Accounts Assistant:
- Accounts Receivable:
- entering and validating of distributor invoices, checking correct stock and price breaks
- processing of bank transfers and allocation of payments
- working out commission due
- reconciliation of distributor accounts
- Accounts Payable:
- checking purchase orders for correct GL codes
- matching invoices against receipts
- entering and validating supplier invoices
- processing of fixed assets and maintaining asset register
- BACS and cheque payments, foreign currency transfers and contras
- Reconciliation of supplier accounts
- General Ledger:
- journal postings
- reconciliation of all account balances to TB
- variance analysis
- Handling ad hoc queries (internal and external)
- General administration duties including use of Microsoft Word and Excel spreadsheets
- Control and administration of petty cash and foreign currency
- Balancing month end accounts in conjunction with colleagues
- Travel arrangements for Company Employees
- VAT submissions
Experience & Qualifications Required to Apply:
- Educated to a good basic standard with GCSE passes at grade A* to C in Mathematics and English or an equivalent NVQ (BTec) level 2 qualification in a business/finance discipline
- Preferably possess a qualification that is finance/accountancy based (not essential)
- Must possess a demonstrated track record of a minimum of 2 years experience in a similar role within an accounting function
- To be IT literate and familiar with Microsoft Word and Excel or equivalent software
- Must possess a demonstrated ability to prioritise workload in a busy and sometimes demanding role whilst adhering to strict time bound deadlines
- Ability to work efficiently and accurately
- Highly motivated
- The ability to work as a team member and possess good interpersonal, communication and literacy skills
- High level of flexibility and dependability
