We are seeking an enthusiastic and compassionate Learning Support Assistant to join our dedicated Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND) department. This role is integral to the ongoing development and growth of our school, supporting the delivery of teaching and enabling all students to access the curriculum and achieve their full potential.

Day to Day of the role:

  • Plan and lead small group intervention sessions across various year groups, focusing on areas such as literacy, numeracy, resilience, social skills, and anger management.
  • Deliver one-to-one sessions for students with an EHCP and support SEMH intervention groups.
  • Act as the named lead for up to three areas such as SEMH, EAL, literacy, numeracy, dyslexia, and access arrangements.
  • Develop and create personalised differentiated resources to support individual students in accessing learning within the classroom.
  • Implement learning activities and teaching programmes as agreed with the teacher, adjusting activities according to pupils' responses.
  • Undertake break or lunch duty each day and support with the delivery of literacy and numeracy lessons at GCSE level when required.
  • Act as a key worker for a portfolio of SEND students, writing their PSP, liaising with staff, and reviewing the impact of strategies.
  • Record and report on the progress of students within your portfolio.
  • Support students with complex needs within the classroom and during assessments and examinations.
  • Run wellbeing groups and support the school's ethos and policies, including those related to health and safety and safeguarding.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Good organisational skills and self-motivation.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team to meet deadlines.
  • Competency in ICT with good communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Experience of working in an educational environment and with young people aged 11 – 16 with learning difficulties.
  • GCSE English and Mathematics at ‘C grade' or equivalent.
  • A positive attitude and approach to change and development, with a commitment to lifelong learning.
