Milk Education are currently recruiting for Social and Emotional Support Teaching Assistants for the 2024/2025 academic year in the Burnley area.

This Social and Emotional Support Teaching Assistant positions commence in September 2024 and runs throughout the school year. There is the possibility of this role becoming permanent once you have worked at the school for 12 weeks providing the role is a mutually suitable fit for yourself and the school.

This Social and Emotional Support Teaching Assistant role entails supporting a lovely year 7 student with social and emotional needs. The student displays mild behavioral difficulties but does require support with the transition from primary to secondary school and integrating with their peer group.

Your day will consist of working with your student in each lesson so it is imperative you are confident creating a strong rapport with young people.

You will also be required to liaise with the school SENCO to implement plans to ensure your student has the best chance of academic and personal success. You may also be required to partake in meetings with multi-agencies, ie CAMHS/Healthy Young Minds etc.

The pay for this role is between £95 - £110 per day

Milk Education are ideally looking for Social and Emotional Support Teaching Assistants with previous experience working in schools. However, applicants with a background in the following sectors will be considered:

Care/support worker

Community based work

Sports Coach

Personal Trainer

Police/prison officer

What do you need for this Social and Emotional Support Teaching Assistants role:

  • A DBS on the update service or a willingness to apply for one
  • Be able to provide your two most recent references
  • A proactive nature and a willingness to engage young people
  • Be available for full-time work Mon – Fri 8:30am – 3pm
  • Ideally experience working with young people in some capacity however all applications will be considered and our school have indicated they are open-minded to previous experience for the right person
  • An understanding of the needs of young people and the issues facing them in 2024 – ie Challenges around social media, exploitation to CSE (Child Sexual Exploitation) and CCE (Child Criminal Exploitation, Knife Crime awareness etc.
