Job Title: Support Worker

Job Overview:

As a Support Worker, you will assist individuals in achieving their personal goals and improving their quality of life. You will provide practical and emotional support to clients with various needs, helping them maintain independence and well-being in their daily lives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Personal Care: Assist clients with personal hygiene, dressing, and other daily living activities as needed.
  • Emotional Support: Provide companionship and emotional support, helping clients cope with challenges and enhancing their mental well-being.
  • Care Planning: Work collaboratively with clients and healthcare professionals to develop and implement personalized care plans that address individual needs and goals.
  • Activity Facilitation: Encourage and support clients in participating in social and recreational activities to promote engagement and community involvement.
  • Medication Management: Assist clients with managing medications, ensuring they follow prescribed routines (if trained and authorized).
  • Monitoring and Reporting: Observe and record clients' progress and any changes in their physical or mental health, reporting significant changes to appropriate professionals.
  • Advocacy: Advocate for clients' needs and preferences, ensuring their rights and dignity are respected.

Required Qualifications:

  • Relevant qualifications or experience in health and social care (e.g., NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care).
  • Basic understanding of health and safety regulations.
  • Some positions may require specific training (e.g., in manual handling or first aid).

Skills:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and the ability to build rapport with clients.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to meet diverse client needs.

Working Conditions:

  • Support Workers may work in a variety of settings, including residential care homes, community services, or clients' homes.
  • Shifts may include evenings, weekends, and holidays, depending on client needs.
