Harmonic is delighted to be working on a retained basis with a rapidly scaling digital health-tech scale-up based in Glasgow on their search for a Financial Controller, who will be responsible for managing the day-to-day finance operations of the business.

The client:

Harmonic is excited to be working with a digital pharmacy scale-up based in the UK who offers a seamless solution for managing and delivering prescription medications. By leveraging a secure app, users can easily orde3r and track their medications, ensuring timely delivery across the UK. Integrating directly with NHS systems, it allows for the efficient handling of both NHS and private prescriptions.

Since their inception, the company has experienced significant growth, securing substantial investments from top investors, having raised around £20m in the last 3 years. This ha supports their fast growth, technological advancements and strategic partners with key healthcare providers.

The roleFio:

In this dynamic and fast-growing scale-up, the Financial Controller will play a pivotal role in ensuring the financial health and scalability of the operations. Reporting to a highly experienced CFO and Finance Director, you will be responsible for preparing comprehensive financial reports, managing daily financial operations, and leading key processes such as budgeting, forecasting, and annual audits.

As the Junior finance team continues to expand over the next year, you will mentor and manage team members, fostering their growth and development.

Additionally, you will drive improvements in financial controls and processes, build strong cross-departmental relationships, and support strategic initiatives including fundraising and acquisitions. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the financial strategy and success of a rapidly evolving company.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare all financial reports, including internal reports (e.g., management accounts, KPI reporting) and external reports (e.g., financial statements, investor reporting).
  • Oversee the daily financial operations, including payment runs, VAT returns, payroll, and pensions.
  • Identify and implement improvements to financial controls and processes to ensure the finance team can scale with the business.
  • Lead the budgeting and forecasting processes.
  • Oversee the annual audit process.
  • Manage and mentor junior members of the finance team.
  • Build strong relationships across the organisation and collaborate with other departments to achieve the financial objectives of the business.
  • Support the Finance Director with special projects, fundraising, and acquisitions.
  • Act as a deputy for the Finance Director in internal and external meetings.

What we need to see (essential):

  • Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA)
  • Commercial and forward-looking mindset
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Strong communication skills

What we would like to see (Bonus):

  • Previous qualified ACA within a practice environment
  • Experience within a e-commerce or online marketplace environment
  • Experience within a rapidly scaling environment
  • Exposure to Xero accounting software
  • Previously led an Audi internally

Salary: £75,000 - £85,000 + Share Options

Location: Glasgow (2-3 days in office)
