Web Developer Apprentice

Purpose of Job:

As an Apprentice Web Developer, you will have the opportunity to learn and gain hands-on experience in web development under the guidance of senior developers. This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about web development and looking to kick-start their careers in the industry.

This will involve a range of both front and back-end UI/UX design along with the procedural code to accomplish the task at hand. The systems and procedures that will be developed may be relevant to roles outside of the System Department and therefore it is essential to be able to develop an understanding of wider business practices and be able to grasp concepts to build solutions.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with senior web developers and team members to support the development of web applications.
  • Assist in implementing front-end and back-end solutions using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and other relevant programming languages.
  • Learn and apply web development best practices and coding standards under the guidance of senior developers.
  • Contribute to the integration of UX/UI designs into functional web interfaces, ensuring responsiveness and user-friendly experiences.
  • Participate in debugging and troubleshooting activities to identify and resolve software bugs.
  • Actively participate in code reviews and utilize feedback to improve coding skills and knowledge.
  • Support the testing and quality assurance process to ensure web applications meet performance and functionality requirements.
  • Stay updated with industry trends, emerging technologies, and web development practices to enhance skills and knowledge.

Key Skills:

  • Pursuing or completed coursework or training in web development is a plus.
  • Passion for web development and eagerness to learn and grow in the field.
  • Familiarity with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript is desirable.
  • Basic understanding of web design principles and responsive web development.
  • Knowledge of programming concepts and logical thinking.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team and willingness to learn from senior team members

Entry Requirements:

  • 7 GCSEs total
  • English GCSE grade D or above
  • Other 6 GCSEs, including Maths, to be C or above
  • You must not hold an existing qualification at the same or higher level than this apprenticeship in a similar subject

You may also have a combination of qualifications and experience which demonstrate the minimum foundation needed for the programme. In this instance you could still be considered for the programme.

If you hold international equivalents of the above qualifications, at the time of your application you must be able to provide an official document that states how your international qualifications compare to the UK qualifications.
