Responsibilities:
- Lead and oversee the IT department, ensuring the delivery of a high-quality, tailored IT curriculum for students with special educational needs (SEN).
- Develop and implement innovative teaching strategies to engage and support SEN students, fostering both academic and personal growth.
- Mentor and support IT teachers, providing guidance and professional development opportunities to enhance their teaching skills and effectiveness.
- Collaborate with the Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) and senior leadership team to develop and implement school-wide SEN strategies.
- Monitor and evaluate the progress of students, using data to inform and adjust teaching practices and departmental strategies.
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive learning environment that encourages student participation and achievement.
- Communicate effectively with parents, guardians, and external specialists to ensure a comprehensive support system for each student.
- Stay updated on the latest advancements in SEN education and IT teaching, integrating best practices into the department.
Requirements:
- Hold a valid Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) in the UK.
- Extensive experience teaching IT, with a strong background in working with students with special educational needs.
- Proven leadership experience, preferably within an educational setting.
- Strong ability to adapt teaching methods to meet the unique requirements of SEN students.
- Commitment to continuous professional development and staying informed about advancements in SEN education.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills for working effectively with colleagues, parents, and external professionals.
- A genuine passion for fostering the academic and personal development of students with SEN.
