Our client is a boutique MSP looking for a Network Support Engineer to act as 3rd line escalation point, and to perform systems maintenance for all their clients.

The ideal candidate would have previous experience working in an MSP, a CCNP-level technical skillset, a proactive attitude in customer service; a genuine interest in quickly upskilling is essential.

Technical Experience

  • Previous corporate-level 3rd line networking support experience
  • Excellent customer service including key stakeholder interactions
  • Experience of creating quality support documentation
  • Expert Knowledge and understanding of support best practices and procedures
  • Previous MSP experience

Desirable Qualifications and Technical Skills

  • CCNP highly desirable
  • FortiGate NSE4+ desirable
  • Intermediate understanding of:
  • Networking IPv4 / DHCP / DNS / Switches
  • Enterprise Firewall technologies
  • Enterprise WAN technologies
  • Enterprise Network Management and Monitoring of packet capture technologies and tools

The Role

The successful candidate will perform systems maintenance for all their clients, gaining exposure to a wide range of system and technologies. This role also includes acting as an escalation point for the Service Desk for 3rd Line Support tickets, as well as supporting with dedicated internal or client projects.

Engineers are part of an out-of-hours on-call rota to assist with escalations, generally one week per month.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a nimble and agile company, gain exposure to a wide range of technologies and eventually progress into consultancy.

Systems Management

  • Identification of improvements to networking systems and infrastructure
  • Hardware and firmware upgrades to networking infrastructure
  • Monitoring of production networks and infrastructure
  • RFCs writing and implementation
  • Documentation maintenance and creation

3rd Line Support

  • Troubleshooting of networking incidents and escalations
  • Monitoring and fixing networking alerts
  • Root cause analysis and of network trends reporting
  • Major incident resolution
  • Service requests, BAU firewall and network switch configuration

Project Work

  • Datacentre and client site deployments
  • Submitting and executing change requests
