Head of Physical Education

- Working Hours: 8:00 - 16:00, Monday to Friday
- Pay: To National teachers PayScale + TLR
We are seeking a Head of Physical Education with a strong focus on sport science and GCSE theory. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified and experienced teacher to lead the department in a prestigious private school in Cambridge. The ideal candidate will have a passion for physical education and a proven track record of inspiring students to achieve academic excellence.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Lead the Physical Education department, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning are maintained.
- Develop and implement a curriculum that focuses on sport science and is tailored to GCSE students.
- Teach engaging and informative lessons that cater to a range of abilities and learning styles.
- Monitor and evaluate the progress and attainment of students, providing support and intervention where necessary.
- Manage resources and facilities to create an optimal learning environment.
- Mentor and support colleagues within the department, promoting continuous professional development.
- Organise and oversee extracurricular activities, including sports teams and events.
- Liaise with parents, staff, and external organisations to promote the department and its activities.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with a specialism in Physical Education.
- Extensive knowledge of sport science and GCSE curriculum.
- Proven experience as a Physical Education teacher, with leadership experience being highly desirable.
- Excellent organisational and communication skills.
- Ability to lead and motivate both staff and students.
- Commitment to professional development and staying abreast of the latest educational practices.
