Environmental Services Assistant

  • Job Type: Full-time (8am-4pm, Monday-Friday)
  • Salary: £12 per hour PAYE

We are seeking an Environmental Services Assistant to join our dedicated team in Sheffield. This role involves organising, supervising, and supporting the work of the Animal Control Team and other support staff to ensure effective service delivery. The successful candidate will be a key player in maintaining the high standards of our Environmental Protection Service.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Organise, supervise, and support the Animal Control Team and other support staff for effective service delivery.
  • Provide assistance and advice to staff within the Environmental Protection Service.
  • Assist in other environmental protection functions as necessary.
  • Supervise staff and trainees, conduct appraisals, and ensure proper delivery of development programmes.
  • Manage and negotiate contracts related to Environmental Protection Service.
  • Deputise for Team Leaders and provide cover for other team members when required.
  • Prepare, organise, present, and implement reports, letters, and action plans.
  • Perform duties of Technical and Operational staff when required.
  • Drive vehicles as appropriate, holding a full driving licence.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Full driving licence.
  • Ability to work independently from instructions and as part of a team.
  • Effective communication skills with the public.
  • Literacy and numeracy skills for compliance with health & safety procedures.
  • Understanding of equality and health and safety issues.
  • Self-organisation skills.
  • Basic numeracy and literacy skills.

  • Flexibility to work outside normal working hours.
  • Willingness to work in unpleasant and noxious conditions.
  • Ability to move, lift, and carry bulky and heavy items.
  • Compliance with safe working practices and use of personal protective equipment.
