Assistant Buyer

Our client, facilitate a niche industry with engineering and they are looking for an Assistant Buyer to join their busy team!
Assistant Buyer Roles and Responsibilities:
- Assist the purchasing team to ensure all materials are available on time and purchased at the most cost-effective price
- With support you will manage allocated suppliers and will work with them to perform agreed KPIs
- Sourcing and placement of orders, using appropriate MRP reports and manual requisitions
- Negotiation lower pricing whenever possible
- Update and maintain Supplier details on the MRP system and review of supplier performance, developing improvement programs
- Maintenance of minimum stock levels against MRP requirements
- Adjust component MRP parameters to achieve on-time availability and appropriate batch sizes
- Progress chasing outstanding PO's in liaison with Production Control
- Assist Stores personnel when required including stocktaking etc.
- Assist Production Control when required to progress work through the factory
The ideal Assistant Buyer will:
- 3 years' experience using MRP/ERP/SAP or similar
- Experience of placing and reviewing Purchase Orders and updating parts and supplier/customer data
- Experienced in supplier or customer management
- Experience of working in a manufacturing/ engineering environment would be preferred
- A qualification in Purchasing (CIPS) would be useful but not essential - can offer opportunity to commence or continue CIPS qualifications
- Good level of English and Maths, IT literate including MS Office Suite, Excel, Word & Outlook
