After 9 years of operation we're taking on some exciting challenges with growing our existing clients' websites - as well as building new ones. Working on our various existing projects as well as new builds that you will own, our aim is for our new WordPress Developer to be a dynamic force in enhancing the performance and power of our web platforms, alongside delivering against our website designs.

WordPress Developer - The Role:

This is a ‘midweight' position but has the potential to quickly grow as the company grows. It is an exceptional opportunity for the successful candidate to join at an exciting stage for the business and have the impact of their decisions felt in a small and tightly knit company.

Working alongside the existing development team, you may find yourself busy with any of the following: briefing meetings, taking part in development and project planning, developing custom functionalities and plugins, taking website development briefs from finished designs to completion, enhancing performance, speed, and conversion of our clients' websites, handling support tickets, discussing interactions, and QA'ing your builds with the design team. The role will occasionally be client facing.

WordPress Developer - Key Responsibilities:

  • Website and web application development for use on a wide range of devices
  • Work across multiple projects for a range of clients from SMEs to large multi-nationals
  • Engage and coordinate with the design and project management teams
  • Ensure you are up to date with trends, technologies and industry developments
  • Self starter with the ability to learn and widen your own skill set

WordPress Developer - You:

Essential:

  • An eager, self-starter who is innovative, conscientious and enthusiastic with a creative approach
  • Happy to be accountable for using web development best practices, sustainable and scalable development practices, CMS ease of use, and website speed and performance
  • 3 Years experience in a similar role
  • Commercial knowledge of WordPress, developing bespoke themes and plugins using Advanced Custom Fields (ACF).
  • Working knowledge of HTML5 and SCSS, PHP, TailwindCSS, JavaScript (jQuery, ES6)
  • Creating responsive, accessible and UX driven websites
  • Familiarity with Github/Bitbucket version control & workflows
  • Excellent communication skills and a can-do attitude
  • Experience in analytics and CRM integration
  • Experience in database management: SQL, MySQL
  • Developing with SEO in mind (ranking & page speed)
  • Commercial understanding of WordPress, developing bespoke themes, plugins and using WordPress Multisite

Desirable:

  • Familiarity with tools such as Composer, NodeJS(npm), Gulp/Grunt
  • CI/CD Experience - for example BitBucket Pipelines
  • Experience building for the Wordpress block editor
  • An understanding of and interest in digital design
  • Experience developing for interaction design and animation
  • Exposure to web design tools for generating styled components (Sketch, Figma, Zeplin, Adobe XD, InVision)
