Role
We are seeking an experienced Software Developer with strong Java and JavaScript skills to join the development team. Reporting to the Software Development Manager, you will play a pivotal role in designing, building, and enhancing software systems that support internal stakeholders and global operations.
Key responsibilities include:
- Developing and maintaining robust Java-based applications (Java 8/11)
- Working with threading, JDBC, sockets, and HTTP(S) protocols
- Supporting application deployment on application servers, ideally Wildfly
- Collaborating with internal teams to understand requirements and deliver solutions
- Contributing to the technical direction and continuous improvement of our systems
This is a hybrid or fully remote position, available on a permanent basis. Unfortunately sponsorship is not available and candidates will need to hold ILR or a British passport.
Occasional out-of-hours support may be required.
Person
Essential:
- 5–10 years of professional experience in software development
- Proficiency in Java and JavaScript
- Strong SQL skills
- Experience with application servers and deployment processes
Desirable:
- Experience with GWT / GWT-EXT
- Knowledge of Postgres / PostGIS and geometric data processing
- Ability to handle CSV data formats
- Awareness of EJB, JPA, Eclipse, Maven, and Java-to-MS Office automation
