Posted by Nigel Wright Group.

Company

I'm working with a dynamic and friendly technology company based in the UK, specialising in the development of critical global infrastructure. As a small but impactful organisation, they're offering a collaborative environment where innovation and technical ownership are highly valued.

Role

We are seeking an experienced Software Developer with strong Java and JavaScript skills to join the development team. Reporting to the Software Development Manager, you will play a pivotal role in designing, building, and enhancing software systems that support internal stakeholders and global operations.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing and maintaining robust Java-based applications (Java 8/11)
  • Working with threading, JDBC, sockets, and HTTP(S) protocols
  • Supporting application deployment on application servers, ideally Wildfly
  • Collaborating with internal teams to understand requirements and deliver solutions
  • Contributing to the technical direction and continuous improvement of our systems

This is a hybrid or fully remote position, available on a permanent basis. Unfortunately sponsorship is not available and candidates will need to hold ILR or a British passport.

Occasional out-of-hours support may be required.

Person

Essential:

  • 5–10 years of professional experience in software development
  • Proficiency in Java and JavaScript
  • Strong SQL skills
  • Experience with application servers and deployment processes

Desirable:

  • Experience with GWT / GWT-EXT
  • Knowledge of Postgres / PostGIS and geometric data processing
  • Ability to handle CSV data formats
  • Awareness of EJB, JPA, Eclipse, Maven, and Java-to-MS Office automation

We're looking for someone who thrives on solving complex problems, enjoys taking ownership of technical challenges, and is passionate about building reliable, scalable systems.
