Want to help shape, design and deliver the Future Strike missiles and effectors? MBDA are looking for a dynamic leader to join our Future Systems team to ensure we develop and deliver battle-winning capabilities to our customers for future generations.

Job Title: Capability Delivery Lead

Salary: Circa £70,000 depending on experience

Location: Bristol / Stevenage (We may be able to offer a relocation package for this role)

Dynamic (hybrid) working: 2-3 days per week on-site due to workload classification. Where there are peak activities or the need to work with materials that are office based this may require more for short periods.

Security Clearance: British Citizen or a Dual UK national with British citizenship

Restrictions and/or limitations relating to nationality and/or rights to work may apply. As a minimum and after offer stage, all successful candidates will need to undergo HMG Basic Personnel Security Standard checks (BPSS), which are managed by the MBDA Personnel Security Team.

The opportunity:

Our team is growing within Future Systems which has opened up an exciting role to lead our Future Strike team. We are looking for an upbeat decision maker able to direct, support and work with the team, as we look to make sense of uncertain, ambiguous and/or ambitious challenges so as to shape our future products.

This will include ensuring we guide technology development, draw on our best of class product lines and support our customers, internal and external, with the best solutions. The products we develop and deliver will be key capabilities to ensure our Customers have world leading systems into 2030 and beyond.

What we're looking for from you:

  • Strong background in defence and weapon systems, in order to guide the areas of technical risk as well as business challenges that new products may face.
  • A positive and clear communicator able to influence key decision makers with constructive engagements to rapidly resolve issues.
  • Ability to boil down communications to be concise and with clarity up, down and across to provide confidence and direction to the team, stakeholders and peers alike.
  • A leaders that builds the team, not afraid to challenge, but able to encourage, support and develop team members as well as tack on technical tasks where there are resource limitations.
  • An ability to manage the development of personnel is also a key part to the role, whilst ensuring the team culture within Future Systems Future Strike continues to deliver an invested, supported and high morale organisation that delivers on our promises.
  • Technically minded with an ability to understand complex subjects quickly, operate with ambiguity/assumptions and drive forward discussions providing guidance and direction where needed ensuring solutions meet the Future Strike needs. Providing leadership and guidance to ensure issues can be rapidly resolved and engagements are managed to deliver a professional outcome
  • Organised and able to provide constructive engagement across Future Systems and broader MBDA organisation managing schedules, deliverable reviews and timeliness.
  • Collaborative worker that is able to bring the best out across wider Future Systems to ensure roadmaps are aligned.
  • Strategic thinker able to formulate, capture, communicate and deliver complex plans with multiple dependencies and links across the diverse MBDA business units and technology areas.
