About the Role
I am working with a national retailer who are seeking a skilled and motivatedBusiness Intelligence (BI) Developerto join our dynamic team. In this role, you will leverage your expertise in Power BI, SQL, and data visualization to build, maintain, and enhance their BI capabilities. You will play a key role in converting raw data into insightful reports that empower stakeholders to make informed business decisions.
Key Responsibilities
- Power BI Development:Build, maintain, and enhance Power BI data models based on predefined data structures. Develop and maintain DAX calculations for measures and calculated columns. Ensure seamless integration of a wide range of data sources, guaranteeing the reliability and accuracy of the data presented.
- SQL Expertise:Write and optimize complex SQL queries for efficient data extraction and transformation. Assist in maintaining ETL/ELT data pipelines and improving performance within the ETL process and database.
- Data Visualization:Create visually compelling reports that effectively communicate key business metrics. Translate complex data into meaningful insights to support informed decision-making across the organisation.
- Collaboration & Communication:Translate business needs into technical specifications and manage the development backlog. Contribute to the Agile development process and ensure the production of high-quality technical documentation.
- Continuous Improvement:Stay updated with the latest BI tools and technologies. Evaluate and enhance the current reporting strategy to ensure the business remains at the forefront of best practices and new technologies.
- Data Governance:Contribute to Data Governance and Quality processes and frameworks within our BI excellence centre.
Qualifications & Experience
- 2-3 years of industry experience preferred.
- Proven experience as a BI Developer or Data Engineer.
- Background in data warehouse design (e.g., dimensional modelling).
- In-depth understanding of database management systems, OLAP, and ETL frameworks.
- Experience with Power Apps/Power Automate is preferred.
Skills
- Familiarity with BI technologies, particularly the Microsoft stack.
- In-depth knowledge of SQL, with the ability to write complex queries and procedures.

- Power BI, Fabric, SQL Server Analysis Services.
- MS SQL Server, Azure Synapse, Data Factory, SQL Server Integration Services.
- Paginated Reports, SQL Server Reporting Services.
