We are seeking an HR Administrator to undertake a temporary role for a client of ours. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting various HR functions, including recruitment, onboarding, offboarding, payroll, pensions, and projects. This role requires excellent communication skills, a strong work ethic, and the ability to work independently with a customer-focused approach.

Day to Day of the role:

  • Collaborate with the People Advisor/Consultant on recruitment needs, preparing and uploading job adverts, and assisting with applicant sifting and selection processes.
  • Oversee the onboarding process, including pre-employment checks, informing departments of new starts, setting up systems, and monitoring new employee performance during probation.
  • Manage offboarding procedures, including processing resignations, notifying relevant parties, and conducting payroll exercises.
  • Coordinate overtime and out of hours claims, ensuring compliance with policies and supporting the payroll team as needed.
  • Inform new employees about pension auto-enrolment and liaise with the Scottish Public Pensions Agency for new entrants.
  • Participate in the administration of people-related projects, ensuring accurate paperwork and maintaining databases.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong work ethic and organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise workload independently.
  • Customer-focused with an approachable and helpful manner, good interpersonal skills, and attention to detail.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to job requirements.
  • Initiative, integrity, and understanding of the need for confidentiality.
  • Proficiency in MS Office packages, particularly Excel, Word, and One Note.
  • Minimum of 5 National Qualifications (or equivalent) including English and a numeracy-related subject.

Desirable Criteria:

  • Experience in an administrative role.
  • Interest in HR work.
  • Understanding of public sector work culture.
