Operations Officer - Payment Control & Investigations

Our client, a leading Wealth Management firm are looking for a Payments Officer to join the team on a permanent basis.

As Payments Officer you will be responsible for assist the team in reviewing client and custodian payments. Apply client money and deal with
queries in a timely and efficient manner, ensuring all deadlines are met.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Review of Standing Orders to ensure correct amount/payments are being sent out
  • Completion of Debit Card Payments taken over the telephone in a timely and efficient manner
  • Pay in of all currency cheques received from clients/brokers
  • Issue cheques
  • Agree and process Foreign Exchange netting payments
  • Review and confirmation of Foreign Exchange deals
  • Check all deposit monies due in and out on a daily basis
  • Claim BACS payment(s) when applicable
  • Transfer any deposit monies held with various banks as requested
  • Monitor payment queues throughout the day ensure currency deadlines are met
  • Ensure all payment requests are actioned with appropriate payment authority
  • Resolve all internal and external queries in a timely manner
  • Read and adhere to all relevant policies and department procedures
  • Ensure all emails in various inboxes are dealt with in a timely manner
  • Amend all outgoing payments and add relevant payment information in accordance with the country requirements
  • Quarterly Direct debit mandate reconciliation
  • Daily nostro reconciliation of Client Bank accounts
  • Any other relevant duties as required by the department
  • Be proactive in developing your knowledge of the industry and the market. Undertake and record relevant Continuous Professional Development (CPD) to develop knowledge and skills

Key Skills & Experience:

  • An understanding of Payments would be advantageous
  • Ability to learn new systems
  • Ability to follow procedures and make recommendations for improvement
  • Ability to learn and apply Compliance requirements and processes relevant regulations affecting role for your role and follow them and escalate areas of concern or issue in a timely manner.
  • Ability to work unsupervised.
  • Ability to process payments with efficiency and accuracy
  • Effective communicator
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • High level of accuracy/attention to detail – quality output.
