This is your opportunity to join a leading designer and manufacturer in their field of Fibre optics and Laser products, as a Product Quality Engineer. This role is critical to their growth plans and the successful launch of new products. As a key point of contact for Product Quality Improvement, you will be instrumental in enhancing product quality both internally and with customers, reporting directly to the Product Quality Manager.

Day to Day of the role:

Serve as the ‘Point of Contact' for CW product quality performance in Southampton.

Lead investigations into field failures and communicate findings.

Analyse market failures, collaborate with cross-functional teams to prevent future issues.

Work closely with Service and Product Owners to understand early failures.

Ensure production quality controls and assurance are at appropriate levels.

Support the operations team to embed quality into processes through coaching and guidance.

Monitor key performance indicators for field and internal quality performance.

Drive efficient and effective Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA) throughout the site.

Collaborate with technical and supplier quality teams regarding supplier-related failures.

Support New Product Introduction (NPI) activities with audits, risk assessments, and continuous improvement suggestions.

Create detailed customer-facing Quality reports and present as required.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Experience in Product Quality Improvement, theory and practice.
  • Ability to interpret field failures and implement internal solutions.
  • Leadership skills to influence cross-functional teams for quality improvement.
  • Proficiency in core quality tools such as 8D, Gauge R&R, MSA.
  • Strong negotiation and influencing skills.
  • Technical understanding of electronic products (preferable).
  • SPC and Six Sigma training, green belt or higher (preferable).
  • SQL database interrogation skills (preferable).
  • Knowledge of APQP, control plan, FMEA, SAP, JIRA, Confluence, ISO9000 (preferable).
  • HNC/HND/Degree in a relevant area (quality, manufacturing, engineering).
  • Quality Engineering/Six Sigma qualification (advantageous).
