The Department

At the core of the firm's practice is real estate, serving leading individuals, families, and their investment companies. The firm has been advising on real estate matters for three centuries and continues to represent clients that have been with them since its inception in 1722. While London is the primary market, the firm also has extensive experience advising international and UK-based investors and developers on deals throughout the UK. This includes a

broad range of sectors such as offices, residential, hotel and leisure, urban estates, mixed-use developments, industrial, and agriculture. Clients include private developers, asset managers, major estate owners in London, leading hotel operators, and affluent individuals and families from around the globe, including the US, Middle East, Asia, and Europe.

Summary of Role

An exciting opportunity exists for a qualified solicitor to advance their career in commercial property law within the firm's prestigious Property Department based in London. The successful candidate will work on a diverse range of matters, including landlord and tenant issues, asset management, development projects, investment sales and purchases, and the real estate aspects of property finance for both borrowers and lenders. The client base includes private investors, developers, family offices, urban estates, financial institutions, and occupiers.

Responsibilities:

  • Drafting and negotiating documents.
  • Assisting Partners with larger transactions and projects, including title and lease reporting.
  • Planning and managing own transactions.
  • Advising on general landlord and tenant matters.
  • Supporting business development initiatives and building a professional network.

Person Specification:

  • Excellent academic record with a minimum 2.1 or equivalent.
  • A self-motivated commercial property lawyer with 2 to 3 years' PQE.
  • Qualified in a commercial property team with solid experience in landlord and tenant and asset management work.
  • Experience with large-scale development projects and investment sales and purchases is advantageous.
  • Essential experience in title and lease reporting.
  • Experience in real estate finance is beneficial but not required.
  • Previous experience in a reputable city or regional firm.
  • A lively, analytical mind with a strong understanding of commercial issues.
  • Ability to manage multiple files, meet deadlines, and maintain exceptional attention to detail.
  • Confidence in dealing with high-profile and highly valued clients.
  • Initiative and strong teamwork skills.
  • Strong technical and drafting skills, with the ability to proactively drive transactions to meet tight deadlines.
