Managing Director

I'm working with a fantastic multi-award winning digital agency based in Manchester who are at an exciting point in their growth and are looking to appoint an MD to take them to the next stage of their journey.

This is a predominantly internally facing role that will require someone with significant digital experience, people development and management skills, as well as substantial commercial experience and a proven track record of success.

The primary role is to develop and execute strategic business plans to grow the business, achieve revenue targets and profitability.

Location: Manchester – 3 days / week
Reports to: CEO

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership & Strategy:

Develop and execute the agency's vision, goals, and long-term strategy.

Identify growth opportunities, emerging trends, and potential markets to drive business expansion.

Work closely with the senior leadership team to refine and implement operational policies.

Ensure the business is built on a scalable model, capable of sustainable and consistent growth

Team Leadership:

Build and manage a high-performing team, fostering a culture of creativity, collaboration, and accountability.

Mentor and develop the leadership team, ensuring effective people management and team development.

Manage resources efficiently, ensuring the right mix of skills across the team to meet client and business needs.

Financial & Operational Management:

Manage the agency's P&L, ensuring profitability and financial sustainability.

Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning in line with the agency's goals.

Develop and implement operational strategies, policies, and procedures to drive efficiency, resilience, scalability and effectiveness across all business functions.

Ensure operational excellence and continuous improvement across all functions.

Ensure compliance and best practice standards are maintained across all commercial arrangements

The successful candidate will be a mentor and role model for the team at all levels of the organisation, helping cultivate a commercial mindset across the entire business.

Experience:

  • Proven experience (10+ years) in a senior leadership role within a digital marketing agency or client side.
  • Strong understanding of all digital marketing channels, including SEO, PPC, social media, content marketing, email marketing, and analytics.
  • Demonstrated track record of people leadership and development.
  • Exceptional leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate teams towards achieving goals.
  • Significant commercial experience in driving substantial EBITDA and turnover growth in previous leadership roles.
  • Excellent business acumen with a commercial and strategic mindset and the ability to make sound decisions in complex situations
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a passion for growth and innovation.
