FM Technical Supervisor

**Job Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated Site Supervisor to oversee the day-to-day operations, ensuring the effective maintenance and smooth running of facilities at our site in East London. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a team of technicians and external contractors to deliver a safe, clean, and well-maintained environment. This role is crucial in ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations while maximising the longevity of facilities.

**Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervision of Maintenance Activities:

  • Lead and manage the site-based facilities maintenance team, including electricians, plumbers, HVAC technicians, and general maintenance workers.

  • Schedule and oversee regular inspections, preventive maintenance, and repairs of all building systems (electrical, plumbing, HVAC, etc.).

  • Coordinate with external contractors for specialised maintenance tasks and ensure work is completed to standard.

  • Facilities Management:

  • Monitor building systems and equipment, ensuring efficient performance and energy management.

  • Manage and oversee all reactive and planned maintenance works, ensuring minimal disruption to the daily operations.

  • Develop and implement maintenance strategies and schedules to extend the lifespan of equipment and infrastructure.

  • Health, Safety, and Compliance:

  • Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations, conducting regular risk assessments and implementing corrective actions where necessary.

  • Maintain records of inspections, permits, certifications, and compliance with building and safety codes.

  • Lead safety briefings and training sessions for the maintenance team and site staff.

  • Team Leadership:

  • Provide training, guidance, and support to the maintenance team, ensuring continuous professional development.

  • Supervise and evaluate team performance, ensuring high standards of workmanship and efficiency.

  • Create work schedules and allocate tasks based on team strengths and project requirements.

  • Budgeting and Resource Management:

  • Assist in preparing and managing the site's facilities maintenance budget.

  • Monitor inventory of maintenance supplies and equipment, ensuring timely procurement of parts and tools.

  • Customer Service and Communication:

  • Act as the first point of contact for site-related maintenance issues and emergencies, ensuring prompt resolution.

  • Liaise with site staff, management, and external stakeholders to communicate maintenance schedules, project updates, and any facility-related concerns.

**Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Experience:

  • Proven experience in a site or facilities maintenance supervisory role, preferably in a commercial, industrial, or public building environment.

  • Strong technical background with knowledge of building systems including electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and HVAC systems.

  • Experience working with contractors and managing large maintenance projects.

  • Qualifications:

  • NVQ Level 3 in a relevant building maintenance field (Electrical/Mechanical/Plumbing) or equivalent.

  • IOSH Managing Safely or NEBOSH General Certificate (preferred).

  • Recognised trade certification in one or more areas (Electrical, Plumbing, HVAC, etc.).

  • Skills:

  • Strong leadership and people management skills.

  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.

  • Proficiency in using maintenance management software and Microsoft Office applications.

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
