SEND Teaching Assistant

Autism KS2 & KS4

I am currently recruiting for a school based in the borough of Sutton. The school is a specialist school set up for children with Autism, The school is an all through school from primary and secondary KS2 to KS5, the pupils are referred from local boroughs in the surround Areas. They require anyone with experience or knowledge with Autism and Complex needs and understanding of environments. The school has many staff who are also trained with team teach behaviour management.

The school has gone from strength to strength to ensure the Accessibility for the students and have great facilities to assist the children with academics and sensory needs

They look for candidates to work one to one and in small groups with the students, you must be enthusiastic and have the knowledge or want to learn and trained to work with SEND.

The school is based in Sutton and also has car parking for staff on site.

The role:

  • Plan, deliver and assess outstanding teaching support and learning using proven methods and approaches that enable Autistic young people to learn
  • Be a class tutor, ensuring pastoral needs are met and establishing excellent relationships with parents and carers
  • Engage and motivate pupils
  • Inspire trust and confidence in pupils, colleagues, parents and other professionals
  • Build team commitment with colleagues and in the classroom
  • Promote the wider aspirations and values of the school
  • Engage in whole school activities as required by the Headteacher
  • Plan and lead children in off-site enrichment activities
  • Ensure you uphold all safeguarding procedures, including engaging in annual safeguarding training, including induction training

You must have:

  • Successful classroom experience / Childcare experience or a parent who has a child with SEND needs
  • Experience of working with children with SEN, Autism ADHD or SLD
  • A commitment to ongoing professional development.
  • An excellent knowledge of safe guarding
