Aila is excited to announce we're in partnership with a well-run, exciting and ambitious Consumer Goods/ Retail business in Hemel Hempstead on the recruitment of an Accounts Assistant to join their team on a permanent basis.

They have an impressive and longstanding history and have continued to grow rapidly in recent years. Current turnover is c.£90m and they have ambitious and realistic growth plans of surpassing £100m and further in the next 24 months.

We are looking for a confident, motivated and reliable self-starter with a proven track-record in Accounts Payable with a strong customer invoicing background. You will have strong attention to detail and be highly numerical as well as have the ability to communicate effectively and articulate yourself to both financial and non-financial stakeholders.

Reporting into the Financial Controller, this role will be responsible for ensuring accurate management and record keeping of the promotional marketing spend. This is an interesting and varied role with lots of commercial and customer exposure. The ability to maintain relationships with our key customers and suppliers is essential.

Key responsibilties:

  • Business partnering with the Sales teams in relation to the significant area of promotional spend.
  • Supporting the Brand Managers control their marketing budgets
  • Be a resource to assist in responding to business needs, reviewing processes, supporting systems development across the business and furthering the agenda of business-safe practice.
  • Entering invoices into the accounts payable system.
  • Checking and verifying invoices.
  • Completion of adhoc tasks as required by Financial Controller.

You will be an experienced Finance/Accounting professional ideally with a strong Accounts Payable/Customer Invoicing background now keen on a new challenge with some more varied responsibilities. It is important for you to be a keen problem solver and someone who is able to troubleshoot and tackle challenges head on. You will be highly numerical and strong on Microsoft Excel as well as being someone confident communicating with internal and external stakeholders.
