Job Description: We are currently seeking a compassionate and dedicated Special Education Needs Teaching Assistant to join a vibrant educational community in Wolverhampton for a September 2024 start. As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a pivotal role in supporting students with a range of special educational needs, ensuring they receive the tailored assistance required to thrive academically and emotionally.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one and small group support to students with SEN, adapting teaching methods to accommodate individual learning styles.
  • Assist classroom teachers in implementing specialized education plans and strategies designed to meet the unique needs of each student.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment where all students feel supported, valued, and empowered to succeed.
  • Collaborate closely with SENCOs (Special Educational Needs Coordinators) and other members of the school staff to develop and implement personalized learning goals and interventions.
  • Monitor student progress and behavior, providing feedback to teachers and caregivers as necessary.
  • Assist with the implementation of sensory integration techniques and other therapeutic interventions as required.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with individuals with special educational needs, preferably within a school setting.
  • A genuine passion for supporting the academic and social development of students with SEN.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, colleagues, and caregivers.
  • Patience, empathy, and resilience when faced with challenging situations.
  • Relevant qualifications such as a Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent would be advantageous but not essential.
  • Willingness to undergo an enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check.
