A leading environmental consultancy is seeking a dedicated and experienced Senior Ecologist to join their dynamic team. Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Management: Oversee ecology-focused projects or manage ecological and ornithological elements within larger, multi-disciplinary initiatives.
  • Ecology Surveys: Conduct and supervise ecological surveys, ensuring the completion of comprehensive Ecological Impact Assessments (EcIA) and standalone ecological assessments.
  • Report Writing: Author and review detailed ecology assessment reports and technical chapters, ensuring they meet the highest standards.
  • Protected Species Licences: Prepare and manage protected species licence applications, as necessary.
  • Business Development: Play an active role in business development by participating in client meetings, networking events, and conferences.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Substantial Experience: A strong background in ecology, with significant experience in project management, ecological surveys, and report writing.
  • Technical Expertise: In-depth knowledge of UK ecology and conservation legislation, with experience in preparing protected species licence applications.
  • Adaptability: A flexible approach, capable of supporting other environmental assessments as required.
  • Client Engagement: Proven ability to build and maintain long-term client relationships and contribute to business development efforts.

Location & Travel:

  • This role is based in Scotland, with a preference for candidates attached to the Glasgow or Edinburgh offices. However, the consultancy offers flexible and hybrid working options. Some travel to office locations, client sites, or potentially international destinations may be required based on project needs.
