Energy Systems Catapult is an independent research and technology organisation. Our mission is to accelerate Net Zero energy innovation.

Launched by Innovate UK, the Catapult has built a core team of more than 250 people, with a range of technical, engineering, consumer, commercial, incubation, digital and policy expertise.?They draw on sector-leading test facilities, modelling tools, and data collected from our back catalogue of more than 500 research projects.

Based in Birmingham, the Catapult is part of a network of nine, world-leading technology and innovation centres. The Catapult Network fosters collaboration between industry, government, research organisations, academia, and many others to transform great ideas into valuable products and services.

Context

The Catapult is in an exciting period of growth, and we are further looking to bolster our high performing Account & Bid Management team, to support the ongoing development of the company's work-winning and bidding activity. We are looking for someone who is organised, proactive, can demonstrate a high level of attention to detail with excellent communication skills. This to be underpinned by a positive attitude, a keenness to work collaboratively with colleagues, inquisitive and a driving motivation to win.

The Bid Coordinator will support the bid team in producing competitive tender responses and proposals for direct commercial engagement opportunities. This will be a varied and interactive role, liaising with all teams across our business. It will especially suit someone who is good with people, a clear communicator, great at prioritising and multi-tasking and driven by their own high standards and satisfaction of a job well done.

Key Deliverables & Activities:

  • Supporting development of bids to secure new contracts, including activities such as drafting question responses, documentation formatting, Curriculum Vitae production, case study collation and overall administration of the bid process.

  • Ensure smooth running of bids by supporting Bid Managers to set up and manage bids efficiently and effectively. This will include:

  • Working with our internal functions such as Legal, Finance, HR to support bid development.

  • Setting up and attending bid-specific internal meetings and taking minutes and actions

  • Completing Salesforce entries and updates (our internal database of opportunities and projects)

  • Contributing to our lessons-learned activities and bid library.

  • Reviewing and posting opportunities to relevant colleagues from our alert subscriptions and portals

  • Managing the Bid Management team email inbox using our internal system to ensure tasks are allocated and managed.

  • Supporting the development and maintenance of internal information management systems across the business

  • Supporting the internal Account Management process for the live opportunity pipeline

What credentials are we ideally looking for?

  • Degree level qualified ideally as this role would suit a strong graduate looking for their first position in business development and bid management.
  • Passion in supporting our mission to accelerate Net Zero energy innovation.
  • Experience in an office administration role.
  • Attention to detail and thoroughness.
  • Confident user of Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint and PowerPoint
  • Keen interest in adopting new software, tools, technologies & approaches
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Highly organised, able to plan and manage their time effectively against multiple activities.
  • A can-do attitude, able to work with limited supervision under pressure, to tight deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Supportive, positive and approachable - able to successfully manage relations with clients, colleagues and other stakeholders.
  • Comfortable working with staff at every level in organisations, including senior leaders.
  • Ideally experience of collating, managing and presenting data
  • Ideally some experience of using CRM / Salesforce data and contact management systems.
