Permanent - Up to £35,000pa

We are supporting a fantastic reputable client based in Speke who are looking for an experienced Accounts Assistant / Payroll Assistant to join their Finance team. This role is full time in the office Mon - Fri but their is some flexibility on start and finish times if necessary.

Salary is dependent on experience but ranging up to £35,000pa. The role is reporting directly into the Financial Controller and you will be responsible for playing an active role in the team through processing timely and accurate financial information to help maintain and improve the performance.

Responsibilities as a Accounts and Payroll Assistant:

Accounts Payable:

  • Responsible for supplier payment and liaison, ensuring that all suppliers are paid on a timely basis.
  • Accurate invoice processing, including verification and cross-check to ensure appropriate approval of spend before it goes ahead.
  • Accountable for Purchase Order processing and approval, with reference to budget, for all cost centers.
  • Processing and payment of staff expenses including liaison with staff around queries and reference to budget.

Accounts Receivable:

  • Responsible for all aspects of credit control and query resolution for all revenue streams.
  • Liaise with external customers to ensure that all payments are received within the agreed credit terms.
  • Highlight and escalate outstanding debt and ensure the required steps are taking to recover aged debt.
  • Responsible for producing all bank reconciliations, in order to reconcile the general ledger to the bank account in full.

Payroll:

  • Responsible for accurate processing of monthly payroll runs for two legal entities, via outsourced payroll provider.
  • Work closely with HR to ensure the effective processing of any new starters, leavers and amendments within the month.
  • Review of draft payroll computations for accuracy and completeness, including variance analysis to prior month, with all variances investigated and understood.
  • Complete submission of data to HMRC in advance of deadlines.

Requirements of the role:

  • Experience of working within a Finance function within a similar role.
  • Experience of processing payroll essential.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, including excellent Excel skills.
  • Knowledge of accounting principles.
  • AAT L4 qualified or equivalent.
