We are seeking a dedicated Head of Science to join a dynamic secondary school in the Wellingborough area. This is an exciting leadership opportunity for an experienced science teacher who is ready to take on the challenge of managing and leading a team of passionate educators. The ideal candidate will have a strong track record in teaching science and the ability to develop innovative curriculums.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Lead the Science Department, setting high standards and clear expectations for staff and students.
  • Develop and implement a robust science curriculum that meets the needs of all students.
  • Monitor and evaluate the quality of teaching and learning within the department.
  • Provide professional development opportunities for the science teaching team.
  • Manage departmental resources effectively to enhance student learning.
  • Collaborate with other department heads and the senior leadership team to achieve school-wide objectives.
  • Engage with parents, carers, and the wider community to promote the subject and the school.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience teaching Science.
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to manage and lead a team effectively.
  • Experience in developing teaching curriculums and enhancing learning outcomes.
  • Strong organisational and communication skills.
  • A commitment to continuous professional development for self and others.
