We are seeking a dedicated Head of Science to join a dynamic secondary school in the Wellingborough area. This is an exciting leadership opportunity for an experienced science teacher who is ready to take on the challenge of managing and leading a team of passionate educators. The ideal candidate will have a strong track record in teaching science and the ability to develop innovative curriculums.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Lead the Science Department, setting high standards and clear expectations for staff and students.
- Develop and implement a robust science curriculum that meets the needs of all students.
- Monitor and evaluate the quality of teaching and learning within the department.
- Provide professional development opportunities for the science teaching team.
- Manage departmental resources effectively to enhance student learning.
- Collaborate with other department heads and the senior leadership team to achieve school-wide objectives.
- Engage with parents, carers, and the wider community to promote the subject and the school.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
- A minimum of 5 years of experience teaching Science.
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to manage and lead a team effectively.
- Experience in developing teaching curriculums and enhancing learning outcomes.
- Strong organisational and communication skills.
- A commitment to continuous professional development for self and others.
