Airfreight Import/Export Operator

Our client seeking a highly skilled and experienced Airfreight Import/Export Operator to join their dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have over 5 years of experience in freight forwarding, preferably within the pharmaceutical industry. This role requires a deep understanding of airfreight logistics, import/export regulations, and a keen eye for detail to ensure compliance and efficiency in all shipping activities.

**Key Responsibilities:

  • Adheres fully to the companies Quality Management Systems/Standard Operating Procedures/Company Policies/Procedures (Company Handbooks) at all times.
  • Has responsibility for the Health, Safety and Welfare of self and others and to comply at all times with the requirements of the Health & Safety regulations.
  • Adheres to the Company Equal Opportunities Policy, behaving in an anti-discriminatory, culturally sensitive manner at all times
  • Ensures confidentiality at all times, ensuring full compliance of Data Protection Act
  • Ensures the efficient use of energy supplies and the effective management of waste.
  • Answers telephones, meets and greets visitors and contractors as per company policies/procedures
  • Maintains records in accordance with established policies and procedures and audit guidelines
  • Attends and participates in internal meetings as appropriate
  • Communicates and cooperates with internal departments as appropriate
  • Participates in audits as appropriate
  • Contributes to the maintenance of good housekeeping regimes.
  • Undertakes continuous professional development (CPD) to maximise knowledge and understanding, ensuring compliance at all times with any relevant legislation.
  • Contributes ideas and suggestions to support the continued growth of the company
  • Delivers a quality customer/client service
  • Identifies potential for new business development (where appropriate)
  • Adheres to and fully supports the companyies continuous improvement programme
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned
  • Dealing with internal and external customers on a day to day basis.
  • Central Steering Programme (CSP) with Support/Guidance of Product.
  • Developing effective relationships and negotiating with carriers and overseas agents, on a face to face basis when required.
  • Pre-booking identification with Support/Guidance of Product.
  • General Airfreight Service Levels - Steered and used where necessary.
  • Consolidations, consolidation days and Airline usage optimised - with the use of DWH.
  • Entering HM Customs entry procedures, import and export (NES).
  • Ensuring accurate data is processed in Hellogic such as billing and operational functions.
  • Supporting the Sales/Product team with the most efficient and cost effective way of transporting goods.
  • Airline and palletisation and ULD building.
  • IATA/CASS reconciliation.
  • Ensuring that management is kept fully informed and taking advice where necessary, on any serious HR issues, which may arise.
  • Research and provide competitive quotations to both internal and external customers and follow to ensure good success rate.
  • Provide customer reports where required.
  • Constantly consider initiatives which will enhance the customer experience.
  • Be committed to excellent service quality.
  • Take all incoming calls from customers and all bookings using appropriate documentation
  • Responding to customer enquiries professionally and promptly and liaise with customers on all queries and issues
  • Manage and achieve department and company KPI's
  • Support month end financial processes
  • Support sales to develop new and existing business by sharing sales leads.
  • Responding to customer booking and overseas agents requests
  • Liaising with overseas branches and internal customers
  • Liaise with all new and regular customers on all queries and issues through regular contact by telephone.
