About the Role

Heath Electrical Services is looking for a talented and qualified Commercial Gas Engineer to provide expert heating services for our commercial and industrial clients. The successful candidate will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing complex heating systems in various commercial buildings, ensuring they operate efficiently, reliably, and meet the safety and compliance standards. The Commercial Gas Engineer will play a crucial role in delivering exceptional service to our clients, ensuring their heating requirements are met while maintaining the highest level of professionalism, technical expertise, and customer satisfaction.

The Commercial Gas Engineer will play a crucial role in delivering high-quality gas services to commercial clients. From installing, servicing, and repairing commercial gas appliances and systems to conducting safety inspections and compliance checks, you will apply your expertise to ensure the safety, functionality, and efficiency of our clients' gas installations. Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, and repair commercial heating systems, including boilers, pumps, valves, controls, and related components.
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of commercial heating systems to identify faults, malfunctions, or potential issues.
  • Diagnose complex heating system problems and determine the most suitable repair methods, providing accurate cost estimates to clients.
  • Perform repairs, replacements, or installations of heating system components, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.
  • Carry out routine maintenance tasks, such as cleaning, inspecting, and testing heating systems to optimize performance and prevent breakdowns.
  • Collaborate with clients to understand their specific heating requirements, provide expert advice, and recommend appropriate heating solutions.
  • Keep accurate records of all work performed, including repairs, installations, and maintenance tasks.
  • Stay updated with industry advancements, regulations, and best practices in commercial heating systems.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, following established procedures and maintaining a safe working environment.
  • Provide exceptional customer service, maintaining a professional demeanour and effectively communicating with clients and team members.

Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 2/3 in Heating and Ventilation (Industrial and Commercial Installation): This is a common qualification for heating engineers, offering training in both theoretical and practical aspects of heating and ventilation.
  • Gas Safe Registered: This is a legal requirement for engineers working with gas installations in the UK. For commercial engineers, COCN1 commercial core gas safety and related qualifications would be applicable.
  • Commercial Boiler Certificate: It is beneficial to have a specific certification in the installation, maintenance, and repair of commercial boilers.
  • Proven experience as a Commercial Gas Engineer, with a minimum of 1 year of experience in commercial and industrial settings.
  • Strong knowledge of commercial heating systems, including boilers, pumps, valves, controls, and their functions.
  • Expertise in diagnosing and repairing complex heating system faults, with a thorough understanding of system components and their interactions.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to analyse intricate heating system issues.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with clients, stakeholders, and team members.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality workmanship.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing workload and prioritizing tasks effectively.
  • Full UK driving license and the ability to travel to client locations as required.

Desired Qualifications

  • Level 4 NVQ Diploma in Design and Commissioning of Environmental Technology Systems (Heat Technology Pathway): This is a more advanced qualification, which could be required for senior roles.
  • IPAF (International Powered Access Federation) Certification: If the job involves working at height, this certification can be useful.
  • Energy Efficiency for Domestic Heating Certificate: Although the role is commercial, understanding energy efficiency can still be beneficial.
  • Unvented Hot Water Storage Systems Certificate: While more common in domestic settings, this can also be beneficial in commercial roles.
  • CSCS Card: Although not always necessary, it's beneficial to hold a Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) card, which shows that a worker has the appropriate training and qualifications for their job.
  • Water Regulations Advisory Scheme (WRAS) qualifications
