Technical Architect Permanent Up to £65,000 per annum Northampton (hybrid – 3 days on site, 2 WFH)
Purpose of Role:
The Technical Architect provides a bridge between understanding business needs and technological solutions while acting as a gatekeeper between the organisation and their Managed Service provider for technical IT solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
The primary responsibilities of the Technical Architect are:

Designs and evaluates systems architectures, which include infrastructure, storage repository creation and system diagrams

Responsible for the physical design of technical solutions and formulating plans to deliver those solutions. Focus on building a technical strategy/roadmap as part of the wider IT strategy

Work with the wider project team, e.g., IT Project Managers, Advanced (Managed Service Provider), and IT Security, to effectively deliver solutions

Act as an IT Infrastructure knowledge expert for the organisation and be responsible for overseeing technology selections and implementation strategies suggested by partners

Understand the business and non-functional requirements and identify suitable architecture (including broader technologies, if applicable, application structure and conceptual approaches) that best meets any relevant budgetary and/or timescale constraints

Translates business needs into long-term architecture solutions

Own the design and present it to the relevant governance bodies for review and approval

Mentor and support BAU support staff and project resources so they meet their objectives

Be the IT Infrastructure knowledge authority during defect triage and defect resolution

Own the IT Infrastructure vision and strategy with the Head of IT Operations

Provide guidance and oversight to minimise technical risk and business risk arising from technology and technical solutions

Undertake detailed design reviews

Identify appropriate and cost-effective physical architectures that provide resilience commensurate with business risk and impact

Develop a roadmap for technical assurance in line with the organisations 5-year strategy. This will include:

Central point of control for all infrastructure design to deliver efficiencies through best practice solutions

Working in conjunction with the IT Security and Risk Officer in creating and maintaining Security documentation, conducting Security audits, and resolving identified Security issues appropriately

Advise on appropriate data backup, disaster recovery and testing as per policy

Carry out any other duties requested by line management to achieve the IT department's aims and objectives
Requirements:
- Extensive experience as a Technical Architect
- Previous track record with Azure
- Experience of migrating from on prem to cloud
