About the Role

At Alzheimer's Society, we're here to be peoples first point of contact if you or a loved one is affected by dementia. When people make contact with us, we assess their needs and help them find the support they are looking for. Our top priority is to provide personalised information and guidance to those diagnosed with dementia. We also extend our support to immediate carers, families, and friends, ensuring everyone has the information and help they need.

  • Based in or close to the Hertfordshire area.
  • Provide support to people and help provide the tools and knowledge to make informed decisions about their future.
  • Manage referrals, assisting clients in assessing their information and support needs in a person-centred manner.
  • Provide knowledgeable and trusted information regarding services and benefits available and, where appropriate, assisting our service users in accessing them.
  • Provide community based, face to face services for an increased level of support for more complex cases.
  • Being proactive in reaching people with dementia and carers who may not otherwise access our services.

About you

We would like to welcome approachable and knowledgeable Dementia Advisers to work in the Hertfordshire team. This is an amazing opportunity to have a rewarding career providing support and guidance to people with dementia and their carers. We strive to help people to maintain independence, improving their sense of well-being, and putting people in more control of their own lives. We promote a person-centred service so that our support is unique to each individual, based upon their own aspirations and needs. We provide information and support in people's homes and at locations across Hertfordshire.

What we are looking for:

  • Strong communication skills to deliver advice and guidance with a non-judgmental and compassionate approach.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills to manage caseload of clients effectively.
  • Experience of working in Health and Social Care or environment.

Experience of assessing people face to face with an ability to assess their needs.

  • Good IT skills to record individuals notes and contact people by teams and emails .
  • Be able to travel independently across Hertfordshire.
  • An understanding of dementia and the needs of those living with dementia and their carers.

Important Information:

  • There is no ‘direct care' element to the Dementia Advisers role.
  • The role is based within the community across Hertfordshire, and you will be required to travel across Hertfordshire (this a prerequisite for the successful candidate).
