Trainee Careers Adviser/Work Experience Coordinator

A great opportunity to join our team with career progression to become a qualified Careers Adviser.

Hours: Full Time (37 hrs per week; Mon - Fri)

Location: Northwich

Salary: Once qualified as a Careers Adviser the scale is £24,750-£29,000

Personal Qualities required:

  • Keen to undertake a professional qualification and work with young people.
  • Flexible and able to adapt to changing priorities.
  • Committed to working with and helping young people.
  • Proactive and a self-starter.
  • Friendly, approachable and able to relate well to a wide range of people.

Key Skills required:

  • Self-motivated and able to use initiative.
  • Excellent IT, phone and communication skills.
  • Well organised and able to structure work effectively.
  • Strong written and verbal skills and used to report writing.
  • Strong team player.

Experience and Qualifications required:

  • A good general education including GCSEs at C/Grade 4 or above in Mathematics and English (essential)
  • A Level 3 or above qualification (essential) or Level 4 (desirable)
  • At least 2 years' experience in administration and customer service and/or working in the education sector (essential)
  • Some experience of working with young people (desirable)
  • Full clean driving licence (essential)

Key Accountabilities:

  • Undertake professional training (Level 6 Careers Guidance Professional qualification) to become a qualified Careers Adviser delivering impartial guidance in a range of education settings.
  • Start to deliver careers guidance in schools after 6-9 months in the role.
  • Coordinate work experience programmes with a range of schools/colleges.
  • Undertake employer engagement activities with businesses to provide work experience placements for students.
  • Liaise closely with Health and Safety Assessors to ensure all placements are safe and suitable.
