Join IMI plc, a global specialist engineering company that thrives on innovation and solving problems. As a Production Planner, you will play a crucial role in our production team, ensuring materials are scheduled and positioned effectively to meet customer demands promptly.
Day to Day of the role:
- Collaborate with the production planning team to manage master production scheduling and forecasting activities.
- Maintain the fixed period within the Master Schedule, aligning with materials availability and capacity.
- Utilize planning tools such as MRP, ERP, Preactor, or others for task processing to meet delivery commitments.
- Generate Production Works orders and material requisitions in anticipation of production needs.
- Monitor progress of items associated with order lines to assure on-time material availability for customer deliveries.
- Maintain accurate Material Availability Dates on all assigned orders to ensure proper planning and execution.
- Update data boards, including Obeya and sales monitoring works orders, to reflect the latest views.
- Execute reschedule requests for components, assemblies, or entire orders as needed.
- Identify and monitor issues impacting the timely progress of order line items, developing alternatives to avoid delays.
- Establish and communicate accurate lead times for manufacturing processes to the SOP and sales teams.
- Work closely with departments such as Purchasing, Manufacturing, QA, Sales, and Contracts to ensure cohesive operation.
- Ensure production schedules are accurate, maintained, and can be modified efficiently.
- Provide information to resolve schedule issues with project managers, procurement, engineering, sales, and manufacturing managers.
- Comply with the company's Safety, Health, Environmental, and Fire Safety (SHEF) Management System and policies.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Extensive background in production planning and master scheduling within an engineering manufacturing environment.
- Numerate and IT literate with proficiency in Excel and other Microsoft packages for compiling and analysing performance statistics and reports.
- Proven experience in a production and planning team with strong knowledge of MRP/ERP tools and systems.
- Methodical and organised with a high level of attention to detail.
- Self-motivated, enthusiastic, and target-focused.
