Team / division overview

You'll be working for the global property arm of DWS with Real Estate assets of approximately €60 billion AUM worldwide, including €7.9 billion AUM in the UK and Ireland. The UK team manages a wide range of accounts and strategies on behalf of a global client base of international investors, with the Asset Management team responsible for overseeing a portfolio of UK and Irish properties.

There is the opportunity to join the UK Asset Management Team as an analyst. You will be responsible for discrete projects across the portfolio, across the range of property sectors.

DWS' Hybrid Working model in the UK is designed to find the right balance between in-person collaboration and engagement in the office, which is core to our working culture, and working from home. Employees who wish to sign-up to our Hybrid Working model are required to work in the office two days a week, and given the flexibility to work from home for the remaining three.

Some business groups may need you to spend more time in the office, but this will be discussed and made clear as part of your application and interview process. We are looking for:

  • Strong analytical and financial modelling skills, including cash flow modelling and able to interpret financial statements and management accounting.
  • Experience of UK commercial and/or living sector real estate.
  • Strong computer skills and capabilities.
  • Strong written presentation skills
  • A collaborative team player.
  • Self-motivated and able to work to deadlines.
  • Able to be an effective external ambassador for the team and for DWS.

Your skills and experience:

  • Modelling and underwriting asset business plans to inform strategy (including refurbishment/redevelopment appraisals; hold/sell analysis; tenant covenant analysis; and performing ad-hoc analysis for specific asset and portfolio initiatives), preparing conclusions and recommendations to be presented to Portfolio Managers and the European Investment Committee.
  • Supporting the asset management and business plan execution of the UK & Ireland real estate portfolio including taking responsibility for executing specific asset management initiatives (such as leasing, lease regears, rent reviews), under the supervision of the team's Asset Managers.
  • Assisting with client reporting responsibilities (quarterly and annual), including UK & Ireland KPIs, portfolio performance analysis, and specific asset reporting.
  • Supporting projects to improve the ESG performance of the portfolio according to the DWS ESG Action Plan.
  • Supporting wider team initiatives where required, including individual transactions (acquisitions and dispositions), (eg COVID-19 analysis) and capital raising projects (new funds/separate mandates).

In each case, you will be trained on the relevant systems and processes used by the UK Asset Management Team.
