We are currently recruiting for a Stock Controller/Purchasing Assistant to join our client based in Swindon.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Forecast levels of demand for assigned product group and keep a constant check on stock levels.
- Conduct research to ascertain the best products and suppliers in terms of best value, delivery schedules and quality.
- Liaise with suppliers / manufacturers and the relevant internal departments with information on the timing of the supply of stock, placing orders where appropriate.
- Build and maintain good relationships with new and existing suppliers ensuring suppliers are aware of the business objectives.
- Work with Accounts to ensure the processing of supplier invoices is timely and accurate.
- Keep supplier/transport contract files up to date and use them as reference for the future.
- Work closely with the warehouse ensuring regular stock takes are being carried out.
- Work with the warehouse to ensure that the quality objectives are met.
- Support manager with administrative tasks and any ad hoc duties.
Requirements
- Previous experience of working in a Purchasing/Stock Control Department
- Have a working knowledge and ability to use Sage or a similar package plus Microsoft Office, especially Outlook and Excel.
- Experience with computerised systems with respect to barcode scanning.
- Good communication and negotiating skills.
- Close attention to detail is essential.
