HEALTH AND SAFETY COORDINATOR

NEW JUST IN - We are recruiting for an experienced Health and Safety Coordinator

This is working for a well established company based local to Ashford and you will be overseeing the H&S across the business which will include main site, Milton Keynes and Manchester this is 50/50 Hybrid Working, however this will vary from week to week depending on workload and company commitments with more days worked from the office.

Duties include;

  • Supporting the HSEQ Manager in identifying hazards and managing risks
  • Oversee and ensure all health and safety procedures are adhered to and that all records are accurate and kept up to date.

Supporting the HSEQ Manager in identifying hazards and managing risks.

  • Educate employees on required safety standards within the workplace.
  • Be an initial point of contact for all HSEQ matters.
  • Driving process adherence and good practice for all HSEQ related topics.
  • Support with completion of incident investigation, near miss reports and corrective actions.
  • Undertake routine site inspections and internal audits.
  • Participate in external audits to maintain standards and accreditations.
  • Continually assess existing processes and practices and recommend improvements.
  • Ensure all Health and Safety records and documentation are up to date and accurate.
  • Provide recommendations for improving safety in the workplace across all sites.
  • Conducting detailed DSE and manual handling assessments when needed.
  • Maintain online E-learning programmes.
  • Assist with external customer audits and standards - ISO 45001, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, FORS, RISQS
  • Organising first aid and fire warden training and maintaining records.
  • Responsible for workplace mental health awareness.
  • Undertake specific risk assessments.

Qualifications for this role:

  • NEBOSH / IOSH - Essential
  • Drivers license with the ability to travel

Skills and experience

  • Previous experience in a H&S coordinator or admin role essential, ideally in transport/logistics.
  • Experience in an ISO certified management systems.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to converse at all levels.
  • High level of competency in Microsoft office Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Ability to analyse data and identify performance trends.
  • Ability to prepare complex risk assessments.
  • Experience of conducting internal audits and inspections.
  • Experience of participating in external audits.
  • Full clean driver's license with the ability to travel periodically around the UK.
  • Exceptional time management and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously.
  • Meticulous attention to detail.
  • A sound understanding of the transport and logistics industry.
  • A genuine passion and enthusiasm for Health and Safety.
  • An understanding of Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations is desirable.
  • Knowledge of ISO 14001 (Environmental) and ISO 9001 (Quality) is desirable.
