Your new role
We are looking for an Elective Home Education Access Advisor (EHEA Advisor) to join the Inclusion Team on a full time, permanent basis. This contract is within an established team and is being offered on a hybrid work pattern (blend of working from home, out and about in the community and in the office).
As an EHEA Advisor, you will monitor and record the learning, progress, achievement and welfare of individual learners who are registered with the authority, across Southend, determining if education is suitable and identifying and reporting on any additional needs, barriers to learning and/or welfare concerns. You will collect, collate, and interpret data for local analysis, and provide written report to managers and relevant education and safeguarding boards and meetings as required. You will also appraise, report, and update a record of actions, progress, achievement and suitability of education for all EHE learners using the LA's information management system (Capita).
You will build positive relationships and engage with families to undertake annual conversations and review progress and suitability of education, providing written reports and feedback to parents. You will lead on regular education topic related articles for EHE E-News providing advice, guidance and resources for parents in supporting a varied and exciting education offer. You will remain up to date and aware of local and national safeguarding policies, practice and statutory guidance and report any concerns related to the safety and welfare of the child immediately.
You will carry out any other duties that are consistent with the purpose and grade of the post.
Although this is a hybrid role, the successful candidate will be expected to be available for face to face visits / meetings over 5 days a week.
To meet the needs of the service, you will be expected to adopt flexible working patterns to cover some evenings.
What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in this role, it is essential that you possess relevant experience of working with schools, children, young people and families. Previous knowledge of the relevant areas within the Education Acts, Children's Act and relevant DFE statutory guidance, in particular SEND, Children Missing Education; Elective Home Education statutory guidance' and working together to safeguard children will be vital for this role. Previous experience of building and maintaining positive relationships with families, parents, children, schools and other key stakeholders will be highly desirable but not essential. It is essential that you are able to manage and analyse data and produce clear and concise reports for a range of purposes and audiences. To be successful in the role, it is vital that you can communicate effectively as you will be liaising with different stakeholders at different levels.
Your application will not be considered if you do not have previous experience in either School / Education setting.
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is highly essential for this role.
The post will require the need to be mobile and move around the Borough so a full clean driving license will be desirable but not essential.
