About the Role:
Prospero Teaching is seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to support a child with Autism in Year 4 at a vibrant and inclusive primary school in Barnsley. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a significant impact in a childs educational journey, providing the support they need to thrive in a mainstream classroom setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide tailored support and assistance to a Year 4 student with Autism.
- Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to implement individualized education plans (IEPs).
- Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment.
- Use appropriate strategies to manage and support the child's social and emotional development.
- Assist with classroom activities, ensuring the student is engaged and motivated.
- Monitor and record the students progress, providing feedback to the teacher and SENCO.
- Collaborate with parents, carers, and external agencies to ensure comprehensive support for the child.
Requirements:
- Experience working with children with Autism or other Special Educational Needs (SEN) in an educational setting.
- A genuine passion for supporting and enhancing the learning experience of children with SEN.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Patience, empathy, and the ability to build trusting relationships with children.
- A relevant qualification in education or child care is desirable but not essential.
- An enhanced DBS check or willingness to undergo one.
