Accounts Assistant

We are seeking an Accounts Assistant to join our clients Finance team. Reporting to the Financial Controller, this role involves working closely with the accounts team and other internal departments to ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial data.

Day to day of the role:

  • Review and verify the accuracy of descriptions for sales products.
  • Maintain the SAP Item Master Database, ensuring it is current with the latest item lists.
  • Align production data with shop floor requirements and fields.
  • Verify that commodity codes are correctly filled in for export shipments.
  • Ensure that all hazardous/chemical details in Q&A data are correctly filled in for freight and health & safety compliance.
  • Monitor purchase data to ensure correct lead times on MRP for accurate forecasting.
  • Assist with managing Purchase and Sales Ledgers, including posting entries, reconciling ledgers, and running reports.
  • Manage corporate credit card expenses, ensuring timely upload and accurate coding of costs to cost centres.
  • Review and distribute cost centre reports to internal departments.
  • Assist with cash flow analysis, including reconciling cash book and cash flow reports.
  • Perform other ad hoc duties as required.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • GCSEs in Mathematics and English are essential.
  • An accounting qualification is desirable.
  • Training will be provided, but previous experience as an Accounts Assistant or in a similar position is desirable.
  • Knowledge of SAP is advantageous.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • An analytical approach to problem-solving.
  • Good time management and problem-solving skills.
  • A self-starter with the ability to quickly learn about new processes.
